Memories from the North Toronto of Yesteryear

Using archival material including voice recordings, photographs and maps, long-time North Toronto Historical Society board member Alex. Grenzebach will paint a picture of life in the former Town of North Toronto over 100 years ago – from swimming in the Don River to fetching free milk. Featured will be recordings of the reminiscences of a number of fascinating early residents, ranging from a neurosurgeon to an Anglican Canon. Come and enjoy stories of life in a tight-knit community when life moved at a slower pace.

A brief Annual General Meeting will precede the presentation.

Wednesday, March 26   7 p. m.

Yonge Street's Incredible Music and Pop Culture History

Yonge Street's connection to music, theatre and pop culture is second to none. From Jazz and Motown to Hip Hop, Rock N Roll and Metal to Alternative, Mark Vendramini will show you a side of "The Strip" you never knew existed. Mark spent nearly every free moment of his teens and his twenties on the Yonge Street Strip. If you are a music fan, local history buff, or if you just like hearing great stories, then this is an introduction to the City's musical past that you just don't want to miss.
